The state government will organise a mega investors’ conclave in Dharamsala in February. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur after launching the Him Pragati portal to fast-track clearances of development projects being effectively monitored by the Chief Minister’s office here on Wednesday.

He said the meet would help create international and national visibility about the state’s readiness to attract the investors. “The state is well-connected with the upcoming Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Amritsar to Kolkata and five major industrial hubs are situated near this corridor,” Thakur said.

The portal would ensure effective online monitoring system for fast clearance of various projects such as industry, tourism, power and other projects. The investors could log in to the portal and know the status of their projects.

The Chief Minister said to attract investment, a high-powered committee would be constituted under his chairmanship and a sub-committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. The government would also review the existing industrial promotion policies.

Thakur said the state had comparative advantage for investment such as good governance, investor-friendly environment, ease of doing business, power-surplus state and skilled and talented human resources.

Efforts would be made to simplify procedures.

The state would focus on agro-food processing sector, manufacturing sector, power, tourism and related infrastructure, IT, biotechnology and allied sectors. The thrust would be laid on interaction with CEOs of prominent corporate houses, organising roadshows at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Ludhiana.
