Mandi, June 30
The Adventure Tour Operators Association Kullu-Manali played a crucial role in rescuing an Israeli trekker from the Ladakh region on Wednesday.
Pintu, secretary of the Adventure Tour Operators Association Kullu-Manali, said, “We received a distress call from an Israeli team. The team sought assistance for its client, who fell sick during a trekking expedition at Hankar (Markha Valley) of the Union Territory of Ladakh.”
“We took permission from the Ladakh administration to start rescue efforts using helicopter. We approached a heli service company and the Indian Air Force. In the meantime, we also mobilised two ground rescue teams in this regard,” he said.
“When the company denied assistance, we approached the Indian Air Force with the help of the Ladakh administration. An Indian Air Force chopper was pressed into service and the Israeli trekker was airlifted along with her associate. She was provided medical aid and is now out of danger,” said Pintu.
He said that they were planning to expand their network beyond Himachal in other states to provide assistance in such cases to the needy.
