Kabaddi, badminton training to be provided at Jubbal hostel: Minister
Education Minister Rohit Thakur presided over the closing ceremony of a cricket tournament held in Sundli village under the Jubbal-Kotkhai Legislative Assembly constituency. At the event, he said along with volleyball, training in kabaddi and badminton would also be provided at Thakur Ram Lal Sports Hostel in Jubbal.
“Along with studies, sports is also important for the youth. In view of which, seats for players in Thakur Ram Lal Sports Hostel have been increased. This initiative will benefit students and athletes alike,” the minister said.
He also extended his best wishes to the players participating in the tournament and congratulated the members of the Jai Banad Sports Club for successfully organising the 25th edition of the cricket tournament. He encouraged them to continue organising such events in the future as well.
He also announced the establishment of a teacher training institute in Jubbal soon. He added that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is expected to visit the constituency soon, and he is hopeful that the region will receive further development benefits.
Thakur said the state government was committed to development in all sectors, including education. He added that thousands of posts, including over 15,000 in the Education Department alone, have been filled in the last two years.
Highlighting the efforts made by the present state government for the development of the state, Thakur said Himachal, being a hilly state, owes much of its development to road infrastructure. In this regard, nearly Rs 400 crore has been allocated for road construction in the Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai region, the highest allocation in the state. Additionally, Rs 200 crore has been invested in construction of buildings.
He said the previous BJP-led state government had stalled construction activities. He added that the state’s education sector had also declined due the BJP but the present government has made Himachal a leading state in education within just two years of its tenure.
“According to the Annual State of Education Report (ASER) 2024, Himachal has secured first position in student reading levels — a matter of great pride for the state. This is a result of hard work and dedication of the teachers and parents. He also expressed hope that Himachal would perform well in the National Assessment Survey and that the state government’s focus on quality education would continue to gain momentum.
