Kangra civic body chief resigns

KANGRA: The Kangra Municipal Council chief Suman Verma, who had lost support in the nine-member council, resigned from her post on Monday.

The Kangra Municipal Council chief Suman Verma, who had lost support in the nine-member council, resigned from her post on Monday. She submitted her resignation to the Deputy Commissioner here.

Suman Verma said as there was a notice of vote of no-confidence pending against her she decided to resign.

She said whosoever was elected, she would support full strength the new municipal council chief.

Verma said she was satisfied with her work and added that the development works in the MC area were done to her satisfaction.

Suman Verma was elected president of the Kangra Municipal Council on January 19, 2016 by a draw.

In the nine-member team, Verma was left with only four members supporting her.

The rest five approached the Deputy Commissioner for holding of the session for vote of no-confidence. Five of the nine members are supporting Ashok Sharma.
