Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj today inaugurated a reconstructed main market road built at a cost of Rs 21 lakh in Nurpur. The MP had sanctioned the amount from his MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) for the purpose as the Nurpur Municipal Council was grappling with an acute shortage of funds.
The road was in bad condition and had become an accident-prone stretch.
Bhardwaj also accepted the demand of the residents for reconstruction of the remaining stretch from Chowk Chaudrian Da Khu to Niazpur and sanctioned Rs 15 lakh, including Rs 5 lakh from LAD fund of local MLA Ranbir Singh Nikka. The MP said he, along with the MLA, would convene a meeting with the Jal Shakti Department officials to address the water crisis in the town.
Veopar Mandal, Nurpur, which organised the programme, felicitated the MP and MLA for releasing funds for the road project.
