The event will feature a series of vibrant attractions, including drone shows, fashion shows, marathons, sports competitions and cultural evenings showcasing folk traditions and performances by artists from across Himachal Pradesh and other states.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa today said that the carnival would bear a festive atmosphere and all major intersections and landmarks in Dharamsala would be beautifully decorated.
“Committees have been constituted for the smooth conduct of the event, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar has been appointed nodal officer,” he added, claiming that efforts were being made to ensure active local participation.
Bairwa said that the state government had approved several projects to develop Kangra district as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh. “In line with the Chief Minister’s vision, the Kangra Valley Carnival is being organised to boost tourism and provide a platform to local artistes, artisans and self-help groups,” he added.
He said that Himachali folk culture and craftsmanship would be given prominence and stalls would be set up to showcase local handicrafts, millet-based products and handmade goods. A Millets Festival and Craft Bazaar would be among the major highlights of the carnival, he added.
“To ensure inclusivity, the event will also feature special activities for women and the youth,” Bairwa said. The administration plans to livestream the carnival on social media to allow people unable to attend in person to enjoy the festivities online, he added.
