Kangra MP Shanta Kumar urged the people to uphold the rich tradition and culture of the hill state.

He was addressing a gathering at the Himalayan Himachal Samaroh-2019, organised by the Himalayan Jagriti Manch in New Delhi, today. He said it was a matter of pride to be a Himachali as the state was a model of development and its development indicators had been lauded at the national level and also by World Bank.

“The Chief Minister has presented a development-oriented Budget. Leaders are sensitive to the issues of the people and are making efforts to resolve them,” the MP said.

He stressed the need for honesty and sincerity while performing duty, adding that only dutiful citizens could contribute to a strong society and nation. Shanta quoted Swami Vivekananda and his teachings, adding that a man was known for his kindness and compassion.

He greeted the people on Basant Panchami and also lauded the philanthropic activities of the Himalayan Jagriti Manch in the national capital. The MP also honoured those who rendered distinguished services in their respective fields. Homage was paid to martyrs. President of the Himalayan Jagriti Manch SS Chauhan spoke about the activities of the manch.
