Khelo India trials for ST players tomorrow
Trials for the selection of sportspersons belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category for the upcoming Khelo India Tribal Games would be conducted next week at Bilaspur and Una. Hitesh Azad, Additional Director of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, said trials would be organised to select teams in athletics, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, hockey, and football (men and women) on January 19. He added that the games were scheduled to be held in Chhattisgarh from February 14.
He said trials for athletics (men and women), archery (recurve and compound – men and women), and football (men and women) will be held at Luhnu Ground, Bilaspur, while those for the remaining sports, including swimming, weightlifting, wrestling and hockey, would be conducted at Indira Stadium in Una.
The registration of players would begin at 10 am on the same day. He said interested players should report at the trial venue on time, along with their Himachal Pradesh domicile certificate, tribal certificate and two passport-size photographs. No TA/DA would be provided by the department to candidates participating in the trials. He said that eligible and interested tribal athletes are advised to make the best use of this opportunity to represent Himachal Pradesh at the national level.

The Khelo India Tribal Games aim to promote sports talent among tribal youth and provide them a platform to showcase their skills at the national stage, he said.
