Mandi, July 21

A massive landslide took place on the Malana road near a power project on Friday night. Several tourists were reportedly stranded.

Bhagi Ram, pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Malana, said there was around 80 vehicles stranded in Malana village. The village had been cut off from the rest of the district.

He said several tourists were staying in the village because of the road blockade. The district administration cleared some area for the pedestrian to cross to other side.

Deputy Commissioner, Kullu, Yunus Khan said the workforce and machinery had been deployed but it would take time to restore the traffic. The landslide was massive and retaining wall of the road was damaged.

“The district administration is monitoring the situation and in touch with Malana residents for any kind of help,” he said.
