Leopard hide seized in Parwanoo; 1 held

A team of the Parwanoo police arrested a man, identified as Rajinder Kumar (34), a resident of Khadeen village in Kasauli tehsil, with eight-foot-long leopard hide in his backpack, near TTR barrier at Parwanoo, yesterday evening.

A police team led by Inspector Daya Ram, who had received a tip-off, laid a naka near TTR barrier, when they saw a man coming from Khadeen village towards Parwanoo. He was directed to stop by the police and on searching his backpack eight-foot-long and four-foot-wide leopard hide was found.

The man was coming to Parwanoo to sell the hide. The forest officials were also called at the spot, and they identified it as leopard hide. A case under Section 51 of the Wildlife Act has been registered and further probe is under way.
