Local artistes steal the show on second cultural evening of Sujanpur Holi Utsav
Punjabi singer Mankeerat disappoints audience; minister Rajesh Dharmani attends as chief guest
Local folk singers and artistes enthralled the audience on the second cultural evening of the national Level Holi Utsav at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district while celebrity Punjabi singer Mankeerat Aulakh disappointed the audience on Monday. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, who was the chief guest of the second cultural evening, left the arena quite early. It was learnt the sound of the music was much higher than the voice of the singer, displeasing the audience. Local singers, including Dheeraj Sharma, Mamta Bhardwaj, Varsha Katoch and Amit, made the youth to dance to their tunes.
Rakesh Sharma, a youth in the audience, said that due to the high volume of music, the lyrics of Punjabi songs faded leading to disappointment. He added that people only danced to the drumbeats. Sonia, a local resident, said that local singers performed better than the star singer. She added that it was always pleasing to listen to Pahari songs and witnesses folk culture. The Pahari songs were meaningful while Punjabi songs were more of noise than music.
