Locals said Sarwan Kumar and his wife had visited his brother’s house on Tuesday evening and returned home late at night. Soon after their return, an argument reportedly broke out between the couple. Villagers alleged that Sarwan frequently assaulted his wife and that he was unemployed, while the deceased woman supported the family by working as a labourer and mule handler.

Locals further claimed that the accused had previously attempted suicide but was saved by family members. The couple has two married daughters and a 17-year-old son, who was not at home when the incident occurred.
