Mandi, August 20

The Manali-Leh highway was blocked once again today evening near Banta Mod because of massive landslide in the region. The road was restored for movement of light vehicles in the afternoon only.

The local administration has urged the people to avoid traveling on this road in night hours because it will take time restore it. The Border Roads Organisation has deployed its workforce and machinery in the region to clear the road for traffic movement. Earlier, the road was blocked at Rangri and Aloo ground near Manali town and, much to the relief of locals and tourists was cleared for traffic before it was blocked again in the evening.

An oil tanker was struck by landslide near Rohtang Pass.

The flooded Beas has eroded the road at Rangri and Aloo ground, where huge portion of road was washed away.
