The achievement is being hailed as a matter of pride for the institution and the local community.
A felicitation ceremony was organised on the college premises to celebrate Dr Balbir’s achievement. Principal Dr Sanjeev Kumar, along with Flying Officer Dr Chaman and Flight Commander of the NCC Air Wing, honoured Lieutenant Dr Balbir with a memento and congratulated him on his accomplishment. Faculty members, NCC officers and cadets attended the event and extended their best wishes.
Dr Sanjeev praised the consistent performance of NCC cadets under the guidance of dedicated officers, highlighting their achievements at national and international levels. He termed the achievement as inspirational for the youth and encouraged students to take part in NCC activities to develop discipline and leadership qualities.
Flying Officer Dr Chaman said Dr Balbir completed a three-month intensive PRCN training course conducted from January 5 to April 4 at OTA, Nagpur, following the guidelines of the Directorate General of NCC. He added that Dr Balbir, who earlier served as Caretaker Officer of the NCC Army Wing in the college, had now been formally commissioned under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
During the ceremony, Flying Officer Dr Chaman Lal Kranti Singh handed over the ceremonial baton to Lieutenant Dr Balbir, symbolising the transfer of leadership and responsibility. Speakers said the baton represented discipline, dedication and the core values of the NCC.
The speakers also appreciated Dr Chaman’s leadership, noting that over 13 cadets from the college had been commissioned into the armed forces under his mentorship, while several others had taken part in the Republic Day Camp and international camps.
Dr Balbir Singh, an alumnus of the college and Himachal Pradesh University, has 14 research publications to his credit. Hailing from Ghiyun Dhar in Rewalsar, he comes from a disciplined family background.
