Mandi educational institutions mark World Environment Day
World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in educational institutions across the region, where students participated in a variety of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
At SVM School, the Eco Club organised a comprehensive awareness programme to mark the occasion. The event was inaugurated by the chairperson of the management committee, Rajni Goyal, who attended as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation. Students actively participated in quiz and speech competitions, rangoli-making, group songs, group dances, and a thought-provoking skit conveying messages on protecting nature and preserving natural resources. Both junior and senior students showcased their creativity and concern for environmental issues through their performances. NCC cadets also played an important role in the successful conduct of the programme. The event was attended by vice-chairperson Snehlata Chopra, secretary Nirmala Katyayan, committee members Balbir Kumar Sharma and Ashutosh Pal Chopra, principal Dr Umesh Mandyal, vice-principal Gurcharan Singh, teachers and students.
Meanwhile, DAV School Mandi’s EEDP branch celebrated the occasion by organising a fancy dress activity centred on environmental awareness and creativity. Around 45 students participated, dressed as various characters and themes, confidently presenting their ideas before the audience. The activity encouraged self-expression while reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility. Jenisha, Simran, Shrija, Advika Walia, and Varnika Kavish secured first position, while Drishika stood second. Kyansh, Kritish, Satvika, and Anaya secured third place, and Anshi, Ashvika, Kiyan, and Inayat received consolation prizes.
School incharge Seema Kapoor congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue contributing positively to society. The programme was conducted under the guidance of principal Kuldeep Singh Guleria.
