Mandi, July 26
Tehsildar of Baldwara Amar Singh has been suspended by the Revenue Department for regularising 49 cases of encroachment on government land under Baldwara area of Mandi district. A suspension order was issued by Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary-Cum-FC (Revenue), to the government of Himachal today.
According to official sources, Mandi DC has sent a report about the accused tehsildar to the higher authorities at Shimla for action.
“The accused tehsildar, while regularizing 49 cases of encroachment on government land had not acted in a judicious manner. The accused adopted a very casual approach without due diligence. The accused intended to legalize the unscrupulous encroachments made over the government land without adopting any lawful exercise,” the report of the DC.
The report reveals that most of the encroachment orders by the tehsildar have been passed without making any institution number and only 14 cases have been found to be entered in the encroachment institution register. This forced the higher authorities of Revenue Department to initiate a departmental inquiry against the accused.
Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary–cum-FC (Revenue), suspended the accused. According to the order, during suspension period the tehsildar shall be at the office of Divisional Commissioner, Mandi, and will not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the Divisional Commissioner, Mandi.
Principal Secretary (Revenue) Onkar Chand Sharma said that action would be taken against all those involved in such irregularities and malpractices.
