Students of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, delivered an outstanding performance at the inter-college wushu and taekwondo (men and women) championship, bringing laurels to the university with an impressive medal tally. The championship was held on February 23-24, 2026, at MLSM College, Sundernagar.
“In the wushu men’s category, Tarun Thakur secured a silver medal with a remarkable display of strength and technique, while Shivansh clinched a bronze medal after a series of competitive bouts. In the women’s wushu category, Kanika earned a silver medal, showcasing determination and technical excellence,” a university spokesperson said.
“In taekwondo, Rahul added to the university’s achievements by winning a silver medal, further strengthening the institution’s overall performance in martial arts disciplines,” he added.
Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi congratulated the medal winners and appreciated their hard work and dedication. He said the university remained committed to promoting sports and physical activities among students. He added that active participation in sports not only fostered discipline and leadership qualities but also helped students stay away from social evils such as substance abuse, encouraging them to lead healthy and responsible lives.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the team for their excellent guidance and mentorship that played a crucial role in the team’s success.
