SOLAN: The State Drugs Controller, Licencing-cum-Controlling Authority said the Central Government had prohibited the manufacture, sale and distribution of 80 fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) with immediate effect as per the notification issued on January 11. The action taken under Section 26 A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, is based on the recommendations of the Drug Technical Advisory Board as there is no therapeutic justification for the ingredient contained in these 80 FDCs and their use may invoke risk to human being. He said the manufacture for sale, sale and distribution of the FDCs stand prohibited for human use with immediate effect.
He said that the manufacture for sale, sale and distribution of the above FDCs henceforth would attract Section 28 B of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. TNS
