The Kullu Administration has decided to reopen tourist hotspot Marhi, near Rohtang Pass, for tourism-related activities from Friday.

Additional District Magistrate Kullu Prashant Sarkaik issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

The ADM said the snow-clearance operation is already under way on the Manali-Rohtang road to restore the pass for traffic movement.

Rohtang Pass is a famous tourist destination in Kullu district, where tourists in lakhs visit every year to enjoy the panoramic view of nature. They can enjoy snow-related activities even in the month of June at Rohtang Pass.

“On the demand of tourism stakeholders and taxi operators in Manali, the district administration inspected the condition of road from Manali towards Rohtang Pass. The road was found fit for the movement of vehicles up to Marhi. So, in view of public safety, we have decided to allow the movement of tourist vehicles up to Marhi from Manali,” ADM Sarkaik said.

He said that from Friday onwards, tourists can get online permit to visit Marhi beyond the Gulaba barrier.

The ADM directed the Manali Administration to remove the barrier from Kothi within one or two days and setup it at Gulaba.
