Shimla, July 29

In view of the rising Covid cases in the state, the government has made wearing masks mandatory in educational institutions, government and private offices and indoor/outdoor gatherings.

Wearing of masks has already been made mandatory in health facilities for everyone.

“It has been noted that the number of Covid-19 positive cases and hospitalisation are increasing by the day. Immuno-compromised persons and those with comorbidities are especially vulnerable, a few deaths of such patients have already been reported,” said Secretary Health Subhasish Panda.

“Taking cognizance of this, it is hereby instructed that wearing of appropriate masks shall be ensured in all educational institutions, government and private offices and indoor/outdoor gatherings for the prevention of further spread of the virus,” said Panda.

The number of active cases has gone beyond 5,000 in the state and the positivity rate is hovering around 15 per cent.
