Varsha Chaudhary, Senior Executive Officer of the Municipal Council of Bilaspur, said that the civic boy had started surveillance in the town with CCTV cameras and drones to monitor the violation of orders. She added that individuals caught littering indiscriminately would now face penalties ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.
Varsha said that under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, an inspection of the town was conducted along with the officers of various departments and it was observed that people had turned the slopes of hills, drains, and open areas under the council’s jurisdiction into garbage dumps. This had given rise to the possibility of disease outbreak while also spoiling the beauty of the town.
Varsha said that the Municipal Council was raising awareness through self-help groups by visiting door to door to educate people on segregating wet and dry waste.
