Missing for 5 days, Shimla teen found safe in Chandigarh

A Class XII student, the boy was found after investigating his phone and social media accounts, says SSP Shimla

A 17-year-old boy, who went missing from Shimla five days ago, has been safely located from Chandigarh, police said today.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh said that on February 21, the district police received a complaint from a person identified as Hritik, a resident of Bhattakufar area in Shimla, that his brother had left home and had not returned.

“Acting promptly, a case under Section 137 (2) (kidnapping) was registered at the police station, Dhalli, and an investigation was initiated. The boy, a Class XII student at a local government school, was found after a thorough investigation, including technical analysis of his mobile phone and social media accounts, as well as interrogating his friends,” he said.

The SSP said that further investigation is being conducted. He also urged the parents to keep an eye on social media activities of their children and to immediately alert the police in case of any suspicious activities.
