Jos Lewis (40), a Spanish paraglider who went missing yesterday, has been spotted on a hill between the Thumsar Pass and Bara Bhangal village.
SDM, Baijnath, Vikas Shukla said the paraglider had lost control due to strong winds. He had been swept across Thumsar by winds. Fortunately, he landed safely between Bara Bhangal and the pass. Contact had been established with the trapped paraglider and he had said he was safe and suffered injuries in his feet while landing.
A paramotor had been sent to drop food and water to the trapped paraglider. He would be rescued with the help of a helicopter tomorrow, the SDM said.
The Spanish and two paragliders from Russia and Latvia met with an accident due to strong winds and had sustained injuries while paragliding in Bir. The Spanish paraglider had taken off from Billing but had gone missing.
The administration had carried out a search for missing him in the Bandla forest area near Palampur.
The Russian paraglider got stuck in a tree in Jatingri. He was spotted by an Australian paraglider and he informed the authorities who rescued him. The Russian received minor injuries and suffered sprain in the spine.
Latvian Pakulus Mormund lost control of his glider and fell in Jogindernagar. He was admitted to the Baijnath Civil Hospital and later shifted to the Tanda medical college.
