My office has cordial relations with state govt: Governor
Governor Himachal Pradesh Shiv Pratap Shukla, who was at Dharamsala today, said that he had cordial relations with the state government. When asked by the newsmen regarding allegations levelled against his office by Minister for Revenue Jagat Singh Negi of withholding the bill for allotting land to people of Kinnaur under Nautor rights, the Governor said that his office works under some rules and regulations which are being followed.
“My office, however, has cordial relations with the state government,” the Governor said.
The Nautor rights in tribal areas were the rights of the people residing in tribal areas to be allotted government or common lands in case they had less than 20 bigha land. The rights were given to tribal people to provide them land on which they can sustain themselves. The rights of tribal people ceased to exist when the common lands were classified as forest lands in the state in 1980s.
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, who represents Kinnaur Assembly constituency, had said people would be forced to march to Governor’s house due to alleged delay in clearing of the Bill brought by the present Congress government to allot land to residents of Kinnaur district under Nautor rights.
The Governor, while replying to queries from newsmen regarding delay in construction of North Campus of Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), said that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He said that the Union government has already released Rs 250 crore for the CUHP with which the Dehra campus was coming up. Another Rs 250 crore was yet to be released for the North Campus in Dharamsala. “I will take up the matter with CM so that the North Campus of the CUHP can come up,” he said.
The North Campus is to come up at Jadrangal area of Dharamsala Assembly constituency. The Kangra district administration has sent a proposal to the state government to deposit Rs 30 crore with the Forest Department to transfer forest land in Jadrangal for bringing up the North Campus of the CUHP.
The South Campus of the CUHP in Dehra is likely to be ready this year. VC Sat Prakash Bansal had said that some classes might start in the new campus this year.
