The National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated its 37th Foundation Day with the farmers of Bassu Valley Fruit and Vegetable Producer Cooperative Society at Sunara here on Thursday.
Around 100 stakeholders, beneficiaries and farmer clubs participated in the programme.
Ravi Dass, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, congratulated all participants and a programme on Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) was arranged with the help of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chamba.
Dr Rajeev Raina, principal scientist and head, KVK, apprised the farmers of the technical know-how of the programme.
The objective was to encourage the farmers to adopt such methods of farming where the cost of growing and harvesting plants is zero by using natural fertilisers such as cow dung.
The District Development Manager said the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development was empowering the lives of rural people and its intervention was creating sustainable livelihoods. He further listed various rural development challenges and future planning especially for the welfare of the farmers.
