national para games silver medallist felicitated

Sunil Kumar, who won a silver medal at the 23rd National Para Athletics held in Chennai recently, was felicitated by the Una district administration yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal honoured Sunil Kumar with a Himachali shawl and a cap.

He was also presented with a cheque of Rs 21,000 under the ‘Samarth’ scheme of the district administration.

The 24-year-old athlete, who hails from Laliyad Santu village of Amb subdivision, had won the medal in the Javelin throw event. Despite Kumar’s physical challenges and adverse family conditions, he aimed at excelling in sports.

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal also extended greetings to Sunil’s father Ram Pal and mother Suman Devi. He said their son had made the state and the district proud.
