Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi inaugurated development projects worth Rs 1.79 crore during a visit to Kinnaur district today. He inaugurated a bus stand constructed at a cost of Rs 96 lakh and a multi-purpose building constructed at a cost of Rs 83 lakh at Nichar. He also listened to the grievances of local residents and directed the officials concerned to ensure prompt resolution of all legitimate issues.

The minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government was working to provide quality education to students. He added, “About 100 government schools in the state will be affiliated with the CBSE board, including project schools in Bhabanagar, Sangla, Reckong Peo and Kanam in Kinnaur. Also, English-medium education has been introduced from the Class I to ensure that the students of government schools do not feel inferior when compared to those studying in private schools.”

Negi also announced the construction of a free of cost hostel for students of Class VI to XII at Government Senior Secondary School, Nichar. Besides, he said that a sewerage project would soon be prepared for Nichar and drinking water facilities would be strengthened to ensure permanent solutions to the region’s water-related problems. — TNS
