Nepal national found murdered near Pabbar river in Shimla's Rohru
Body discovered with head injury marks; CCTV footage shows victim with two suspects a day before incident
Unidentified persons have been booked for allegedly murdering a Nepal resident and dumping his body near the bank of the Pabbar river in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district.
According to police, the body of Rakesh Pratap (36) was found near the river on February 18, following which a police team from Chirgaon reached the spot.
The body bore injury marks on the head, and preliminary findings suggest he was killed after being assaulted with a sharp weapon blow to the head.
A case has been registered under Sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (criminal act with common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. A forensic team also visited the crime scene and collected crucial evidence.
During the probe, police examined CCTV footage from nearby areas and found that on February 17, the victim was seen in the company of two suspects.
Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh said that based on CCTV footage and other evidence, the accused are being identified. He added that police teams have been dispatched to nab them and further investigation is underway.
