Nepal resident found murdered in Shimla district
Body found near the bank of Pabbar river in Rohru subdivision
Unknown persons have been booked for allegedly murdering a Nepal resident and dumping his body near the bank of Pabbar river in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district.
According to the police, on February 18, body of Rakesh Pratap (36) was found near the river after which a police team from Chirgaon reached the spot. The body had injury marks on its head. The victim reportedly died after being assaulted with a sharp weapon blow on his head.
Taking prompt action, the police registered a case under Section 103 (murder) and 3(5) (criminal act with common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and initiated an investigation into the matter. A forensic team also reached the crime scene and gathered crucial evidence.
The police also checked the CCTV footages of the nearby areas and found that on February 17, two accused were accompanying the victim.
Gaurav Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Shimla, said based on the CCTV footage and other evidence, the accused were identified. He said police teams had been dispatched to nab the accused. Further investigation was underway in this connection, the SSP said.
