NHPC releases additional water from Pulga dam; public advised to stay away from Parbati river

The authorities of the Parbati-II power station (800 MW), NHPC, have released additional water from the Pulga dam into the Parbati river due to a continuous rise in the reservoir level and the possibility of increased inflow.
According to project authorities, around 30 cusecs of additional water were released from the dam’s radial gates at 6.10 pm today. Following the release, the total discharge into the Parbati river, including e-flow and radial gate discharge, is expected to reach approximately 42 cusecs (12 + 30 cusecs).
The authorities cautioned that if water inflow increases further, more water may be released through the radial gates, which could lead to a rise in the river’s water level.
The general public, tourists, workers, and visitors have been advised to maintain a safe distance from the banks of the Parbati river and to avoid venturing near the river during this period.

As part of safety arrangements, sirens have been sounded and public announcement vehicles have been deployed in nearby areas to warn residents and visitors. NHPC has urged everyone to cooperate in the interest of public safety.
