Chamba, October 20
Despite instructions given by the HP Vidhan Sabha Public Administration Committee Chairman Rakesh Pathania to restore the Chamba-Bharmour national highway, it has not yet become operational for heavy and loaded vehicles.
The committee in the first week of October had inspected the damaged portion of the Chamba-Bharmour national highway near Bagga dam.
The road was washed away on September 23 by the floods in the Ravi, following recent incessant rains. Nearly one month has passed but the road has not yet been restored.
The hill alongside the Ravi through which the highway passes was fragile and efforts were underway to widen and strengthen the Bagga stretch for the movement of heavy vehicles.
Official spokesperson Ravi Verma said on Friday that the Bagga stretch of the Chamba-Bharmour national highway had been opened for light vehicles only.
