Nurpur gets ayurvedic dispensary
The Arya Samaj (Nurpur) today launched the ninth batch of the free sewing training course for girls of the area at the Arya Samaj Mandir here. The organisation has been successfully organising sewing-cum-stitching courses since 2020.
Vishoka Yati, an Arya Samaj activist from Pathankot; and Swami Ved Prakash Pragya, ashram in-charge, Bagni (Nurpur) presided over the inaugural ceremony of the new batch.
She also inaugurated a free ayurvedic dispensary opened at the temple.
Dr Upender Gupta, a retired government ayurvedic doctor, is going to render his services free of cost every Sunday from 9 am onwards at the dispensary.
Before starting the new batch, a havan was performed, in which new trainees, outgoing trainees and members of the Arya Samaj took part.
Presiding over the new sewing training session, Arya Samaj pracharak Ved Prakash briefed the trainees about the teaching and principles of the Arya Samaj.
Chander Prakash Mahajan, president of Arya Samaj, Nurpur, said the only objective of imparting free sewing training to women was to make them self-reliant.
The social welfare project was being run with donations made by philanthropists of the area, he added.
He said, at the newly opened ayurvedic dispensary, the patients would get free prescriptions and ayurvedic medicines.
