Over 450 athletes from across the state will be participating in the two-day Himachal Pradesh State Athletic Championship-2026, to be held at the Luhnu Ground synthetic track in Bilaspur on June 13 and 14.
The championship is being organised by the Himachal Pradesh Athletics Association and will be held under various categories such as Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20, for both male and female athletes. It will also serve as the selection trial for North Zone Athletic Championship, scheduled for September 13 to 16.
CP Mehta, general secretary of the state athletic association, said, “Participants registration opens June 12, with the championship officially commencing June 13 at 6 am. Athletes will receive their first call at 5 am. Former Youth and Sports Minister Ram Lal Thakur will attend as the chief guest for the opening ceremony at 11 am.”
He said all the arrangements regarding the championship had been made by the association. He said to ensure smooth conduct of the championship, all basic and necessary amenities including first aid services had already been arranged for athletes and officials.
“The police personnel will also be present at the venue to ensure that there is no violation in the law and order situation and the championship is held in a peaceful manner,” he said.
Mehta also advised athletes, their coaches and officials to be careful as the association would not be held responsible for any kind of accident, injury, loss of life or damage to property during the championship.
