Over 600 players gear up for season 4 of Himachal’s cricket league

This season, Pro HPCL will be hosted at a newly developed and much-talked-about cricket ground in Shimla, say officials

Over 600 players, including noted cricketer Rishi Dhawan, will be participating in season 4 of Pro Himachal Premium Cricket League (Pro HPCL).

Providing the information, Ajay Thakur, Abhay Thakur, Vinu Diwan, and Sumit Sehgal, founders of the league, in a joint statement said the registration process for the league is now nearly complete, with over 600 players having confirmed their participation.

“This year, around 20 franchise teams are participating, representing different districts and regions of the state. The fourth edition of the league is expected to be bigger and more competitive than ever before,” they said.

“In terms of prize money, the winning team will receive Rs 14 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 7 lakh. Both semi-finalist teams will receive Rs 2 lakh each. Additionally, the Player of the Series will be awarded up to Rs 55,000. Around Rs 30 lakh will be distributed among players through the auction process. Overall, the total prize pool for the season is approximately Rs 60 lakh,” they said.

“Following the completion of registrations, player trials will be conducted, after which the auction process will take place,” they added.

The founders further mentioned that the previous three seasons of the league were successfully conducted, with the first season being held in Bharari in Shimla, the second in Mohali, and the third at the renowned Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula.

“This season, Pro HPCL will be hosted at a newly developed and much-talked-about cricket ground in Shimla, built recently by three young individuals. The venue is being seen as a significant step towards developing professional cricket infrastructure in the region. There is tremendous excitement among players and cricket enthusiasts across Himachal Pradesh for Pro HPCL Season 4, and the league is set to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the region’s sporting landscape,” they said.
