Nahan, July 9

In a series of coordinated operations, the Special Detection Cell and Women Police Station (WPS) of Nahan successfully seized a substantial quantity of illegal country liquor in two incidents.

In the first incident, the police intercepted two vehicles in Kolar and seized 325 boxes, containing 3,900 bottles of Santra, a type of country liquor meant exclusively for sale within Himachal Pradesh. The liquor was recovered from the possession of Amar Singh, a resident of Kolar, and Randeep, a resident of Draina.

In another operation, during a routine check, around 181 boxes, containing 2,172 bottles of illicit liquor, were seized from a store. Layak Ram, a resident of Kando village, was arrested in this case.

Two FIRs were registered at the Majra and Shillai police stations under the Section 39 (1) A of the HP Excise Act.

SP Raman Kumar Meena said the district police had intensified vigilance and routine checks to ensure that such activities were curbed effectively.
