Palampur soil scientist appointed director at Vijayaraje Scindia varsity

Pardeep Kumar, a Principal Scientist (Soil Science), Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar (CSK) Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Palampur, has been appointed Director Instructions and Students’ Welfare at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior. Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Panda extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Pardeep Kumar for this prestigious assignment. He expressed confidence that Pardeep Kumar by dint of his rich academic experience and leadership qualities would significantly contribute to strengthening academic excellence and student welfare at the new institution. Raj Paul Sharma, Head, Department of Soil Science, also congratulated Pardeep Kumar and wished him success in his new role.

Pardeep Kumar, a distinguished soil scientist, had been serving the university since 1998 and was at present working as a Principal Scientist. He had also held the prestigious NFL-Professor Chair in Soil Science (2022–2024).

He has nearly three decades of experience in teaching, research and extension and has made significant contributions to the field of soil science. He has received several national and international awards, including the Outstanding Scientist Award (2025), Distinguished Scientist Award and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Scientist Award (2019). He has also gained international exposure through research and training assignments in the USA and Germany.
