Palampur’s state-level Holi fair begins with shobha yatra
Pahari, Bollywood and Punjabi nights to be major attractions
The historic four-day state-level Holi festival of Palampur started today with a grand shobha yatra (ceremonial procession). District administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the four-day cultural extravaganza.
The shobha yatra was flagged off from the designated venue — PWD rest house, with local MLA Ashish Butail as the chief guest on the occasion. The festival promises a rich blend of culture, music, entertainment and community participation.
The first cultural evening will feature Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma as the chief guest. The highlight of the evening will be a vibrant Pahari night, showcasing traditional Himachali music and dance. Renowned artistes Vicky Chauhan and Kuldeep Sharma will entertain the audience with their popular performances.
On the second day, the cultural function will witness the presence of State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Bhawani Singh Pathania as the chief guest. A special Pahari cultural programme will once again captivate visitors. Popular performer Ishant Bhardwaj will take the centre stage, while events such as a dog show, fancy dress competition and fun games will add to the festive spirit.
The third day will witness the presence of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Prof Chander Kumar as the chief guest. The evening will include a much-awaited Bollywood night, with live performances by Laman Band and singer Akhila Band, promising a high-energy musical experience.
Grand finale in Deputy Chief Minister’s presence
The festival will conclude on March 4, with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri gracing the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Principal Adviser (Digital Technology an Innovation) Gokul Butail will attend the event as the guest of honour. The final evening will be celebrated as a spectacular Punjabi night, that is expected to draw large crowds.
Sports events and prize distribution
In addition to cultural programmes, several sports competitions will be organised, including a 5.5-km race starting from the Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank and concluding at Palampur.
