Una, February 12

The State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau today arrested a clerk posted at the Tahliwal Nagar Panchayat for taking a bribe of Rs 6,000.

DSP Kulwinder Singh, who led the operation, said Haroli resident Yashpal Singh, who is a government contractor, had complained that clerk Ashok Kumar was demanding a bribe of Rs 6,000 to clear his pending payment of Rs 3 lakh.

A trap was laid and the clerk was arrested red-handed. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, he said.
