Panchayat pradhan sacked over negligence, misuse of funds

The DC has directed that Rs 12.99 lakh, identified as misused during the pradhan's tenure, must be deposited back into the Panchayat Fund account without delay.

Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma has ordered the immediate removal of Asha Devi from the post of Gram Panchayat Jarwa-Juneli pradhan in Shillai block. The action has been taken after she was found guilty of negligence in performing her official duties. She has also been declared disqualified from contesting or holding any panchayat post for the next six years.

The DC has directed that Rs 12.99 lakh, identified as misused during her tenure, must be deposited back into the Panchayat Fund account without delay. She has further instructed Asha Devi to hand over any cash belonging to the panchayat, along with all official records, registers, store items and other materials in her possession, to the panchayat secretary. The official seal of the pradhan must also be returned immediately to ensure proper functioning of the panchayat.
