Panchayati Raj officials made aware of quality, safety standards

The Parwanoo branch of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a sensitisation workshop for the officials of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department on Friday.
Head of the Parwanoo branch, Subash Chander Naik, apprised the participants about the working of the BIS. He said the BIS was the most important part of the quality ecosystem of the country and was working to promote quality, safety and reliability of products. The BIS certification was meant to provide third party guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to the consumers.
Joint Director Shiv Prakash gave a detailed presentation on the specific standards, standard formulation, product certification, hallmarking and compulsory registration scheme.
