Demanding district status for Nurpur, Forest Minister and local MLA Rakesh Pathania has said he has been struggling for this cause for the past 17 years.
Indoor stadium in three months
- The Forest Minister reviews the work on the Nurpur indoor stadium and says it will be opened in March.
- He accuses the previous government of laying stone of government college without completing formalities.
Addressing a press conference here, he said people of the area had been expecting the same from the Jai Ram Thakur government of the state. He said Nurpur had the right of being a district and all efforts were being made in this direction.
Pathania, who also reviewed the ongoing work on the indoor stadium in the town, said the government was spending Rs 12.9 crore on the stadium complex. After constructing the stadium, work on the 400-metre synthetic track will start. As per the minister, the construction of the mother child hospital was near completion and it would be dedicated within a few months. He alleged the previous Virbhadra Singh-led government had laid the foundation stone of the government college building without completing the requisite formalities, like getting clearance under the Forest Conservation Act. —OC
