Patriotic fervour marks sub-divisional function at Kaza

The sub-divisional-level function was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Kaza in Lahaul and Spiti district on Monday. The main event was organised at the premises of the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kaza, and witnessed participation from people across sections, lending the occasion a sense of pride and collective joy.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kaza, Shikha Simtia attended the function as the chief guest. She unfurled the Tricolour and took the salute of an impressive parade presented by police personnel. The ceremony reflected national unity and respect for constitutional values as the national flag fluttered high.

Addressing the gathering, the ADC extended greetings and best wishes to the people, recalling the historical significance of January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India came into force and laid the foundation of the world’s largest democracy. She paid tributes to freedom fighters and the framers of the Constitution for their sacrifices and visionary leadership.

Highlighting the strength of the Indian Constitution, she said it guarantees equality, justice and equal opportunities for development to all citizens, without discrimination. She described it as one of the strongest and most comprehensive constitutions in the world.

Shikha Simtia said the occasion serves as a reminder not only of the sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom but also of the duties entrusted to citizens. While the Constitution confers rights, she noted, the progress of the nation and the state depends on how sincerely citizens discharge their responsibilities.

She further said since Independence, steady progress has been made in sectors such as education, health, roads, electricity, tourism and technology, contributing to overall development.

During the ceremony, prizes were distributed to participants in recognition of their achievements and contributions. The function was attended by District Youth President and TAC Member Kesang Rapchik, BDO Anshul, Pradhan Kaza Sonam Dolma, government officials, public representatives and local residents.
