Pinegrove boys lift hockey trophy

Hosts Pinegrove School won the 22nd Sub-Junior U-12 Inter-Public School Hockey Tournament-2019 by outplaying PPS, Nabha, in the final match.

Hosts Pinegrove School won the 22nd Sub-Junior U-12 Inter-Public School Hockey Tournament-2019 by outplaying PPS, Nabha, in the final match. The final match was played under floodlights and Pinegrove lads displayed exemplary sportsmanship and single-minded devotion towards winning the championship for the third time in a row. They won the final match with a convincing score of 5-3. Armaan of Pinegrove, Solan, was declared player of the match and player of the tournament. Upcoming player of the tournament was Hardayansh Singh of Daly College, Indore. Pranav Salaria of PPS, Nabha, emerged the highest goal scorer, while the best defender award went to Aarush Sen Mehta of Pinegrove, Solan. Mansehaj Singh of Pinegrove School bagged the best goalkeeper award.  Chief guest IG, Vigilance, Shimla, JP Singh congratulated the winners. 

A lesson in film production

Students of journalism and mass communication department of APG Shimla University got a hands-on experience of film production and shooting during the shoot of songs of TV serial ‘Khamoshiyan’ on the university campus. “We have promoted more than 50 students,” said Pyush Kanga, director. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr RK Choudhary said such activities brought out the creative side of the students.

Workshop on film making 

Students of classes VIII, IX and X of Loreto Convent School, Shimla, attended a film-making workshop on Monday. The event was hosted by national awardee filmmaker Vivek Mohan, who introduced the students to the birth of cinema and its evolution. The students were thrilled to watch two documentaries “SOS-Shivaji park of Shimla” and “The bus stop”, produced and directed by Vivek Mohan. It was followed by a question-answer session. Students from St Thomas also attended the session.

Nurpur Students shine in athletics 

Students of MCM-DAV Public School, Baghni (Nurpur), performed well in the U-19 State-Level DAV National Sports Meet held in Hamirpur. Aditya Veer Sain won a gold medal in high jump. Siya Rana got a gold medal in discus throw. Vipakshi Thakur clinched a bronze medal in discus throw. Aditya Veer Sain and Siya Rana were selected for the DAV National Meet to be held in Hyderabad and Panipat. Principal of the school MR Rana appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. 

NSS camp on cleanliness 

A seven-day NSS camp began at Government Senior Secondary School Bharari, Sajyopiplu. As many as 42 volunteers participated in the camp. Principal BD Kashyap apprised the NSS volunteers of the importance of selfless work and role of NSS in their lives.
