Poultry farming training kicks off in Kangra

KANGRA: A 30-day training programme on small poultry farming under the Agriculture Skill Council of India is being organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Chaudhary Shrawan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur.

A 30-day training programme on small poultry farming under the Agriculture Skill Council of India is being organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Chaudhary Shrawan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur.

Programme coordinator Dr Vishal Dogra said today that 20 farmers from the district were participating in the training which started on Monday. Dr Yash Pal Thakur, director extension education, CSKHPKV, Palampur, said poultry farming offered an attractive avenue for self-employment.

Dr Vishal Dogra said for effective training, the kendra had established a small poultry demonstration unit at its farm.

Dogra said the trainees would also be taken for exposure visit to model poultry, hatchery and feed unit of CSKHPKV as well as private poultry enterprises in the region.

He said the certificates would be recognised at the national level and would also help farmers to take loan from banks, so that they couls start their business.
