Progress of forest clearance for 23 projects in Churah reviewed

A meeting to assess the progress of various approval cases under the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) pertaining to Churah forest division in Chamba district was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mukesh Repaswal on Sunday.

The DC conducted a detailed review of the progress of the approval cases related to 23 projects of different departments and issued necessary directions to the officials concerned. He emphasised the need to expedite the approval process and instructed all departmental officials to ensure an early compliance of cases falling under the second stage of the FCA clearance.

Repaswal directed the Education Department officials to complete all formalities under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) in connection with the land case of Kanya Hostel Himgiri and submit the proposal for approval at the next meeting.

He said that the timely resolution of objections raised at various stages of the approval process must be ensured through effective inter-departmental coordination so that delays in project clearances were avoided. On the FCA case related to the Fire Station building at Tissa, the department representative said that the objections had been addressed and the required details would be uploaded on the portal within a week.
