Shimla, May 1
Rakesh Singha, CPM MLA from Theog, has said that the creation of additional Covid care facilities at different places in the state without an uninterrupted supply of oxygen will not serve the purpose.
“It would have helped had the oxygen infrastructure been created before the start of the second Covid wave,” he added.
The government should ramp up the bed capacity at the IGMC. “Shift the OPDs from the IGMC elsewhere with the exception of super specialty departments, and increase the bed capacity there,” he added.
Singha said the state needs to recruit 3,000 paramedical staff and volunteers to fight the pandemic. “A large number of volunteers are required to provide meals, medicines and ensure supply of oxygen to the patients,” he said. TNS
