Punjabi folk music enriches Kasauli fest vibes

The 8th edition of Kasauli Rhythm and Blues Festival concluded with an euphoric exuberance in Kasauli this evening.

Organised by the Genesis Foundation as a platform to bring together music fans to donate generously and fund the treatment of underprivileged children with congenital heart defects, the event was applauded for its generous cause.

The second day had a line-up of four performances, including Hari-Sukhmani, known to bring nostalgia with traditional Punjabi folk music infused with electronic music, enriched the vibe of the festival. The act was inspired by Sufi poets.

Another duo Jazz and Indian classical Bryden-Parth with Choral riff swayed the audience with its exceptionally melodious Bollywood covers.

Kerala-based Thaikkudam Bridge, a rock-classical band known for its folk moorings left, the crowd mesmerised.

Apart from a tempting musical line-up, the festival also offered other fun activities such as a dance workshop by Delhi-based Happyfeet dance group and yoga class by renowned international instructor Yogini Shivli.

Her yoga sessions focused on the concept of finding balance, the ‘Shiva & Shakti-the Ying&Yang’. Similarly, ‘Chakra Yoga & Qigong’, her artistically curated series of classes guided the participants to be in the moment and find joy from within by letting go what is not in one’s control.

Prema Sagar, founder trustee, Genesis Foundation, said, “At the foundation, we truly believe that music has the power to unite people across the world. With it being our driving force, we are elated to see Kasauli Rhtyhm and Blues concluding its 8th edition and bring our audience together for the cause of saving little hearts while relishing enthralling music in the scenic beauty of Kasauli. We were able to save 25 children through funds raised from last year’s KRBF. We are hoping to save many more this year with the help of our supporters and all bands.”
