PWD store damaged

CHAMBA: A PWD store was damaged in an avalanche near Sunku Tapri in Bharmour on Friday.

A PWD store was damaged in an avalanche near Sunku Tapri in Bharmour on Friday. Chamba Deputy Commissioner Harikesh Meena said the damage was assessed at Rs 90.57 lakh.

Meena said a loss of Rs 12 crore was caused to HP State Electricity Board Limited due to heavy snowfall, while the PWD had suffered a loss of over Rs 10 crore.

“There has been no power supply in several parts of the district for the past three days and water supply has also been erratic,” Meena said.

Roads leading to the Pangi valley are still blocked. Efforts are on to restore the power/water supply.

The Deputy Commissioner made an appeal to the public to cooperate with department officials.

HRTC regional manager, Chamba, Subhash Kumar said buses were not being plied on 59 routes as 26 vehicles were stranded at different places.
