KULLU: Famous qawwali singer Chand Afzal Qadri enthralled the audience on the second cultural evening of the week-long International Kullu Dasehra festival on Saturday.

Famous qawwali singer Chand Afzal Qadri enthralled the audience on the second cultural evening of the week-long International Kullu Dasehra festival on Saturday.

The programme began with lilting shehnai composition. Artistes from Kullu presented nati, which was applauded by visitors and locals. Various artistes and musical groups from all over the state entertained the audience.

The cultural troupes from Bihar and Haryana presented a glimpse of their respective cultures through various presentations. The audience was left spellbound by the performance of artistes from Indonesia. Punjabi singer Alamgir was lauded by one and all. Folk singer Deepak Jandeva added spark to the evening. A fashion show was also held, which exhibited a blend of traditional costumes with western wear.

Bhole Maharaj and Mata Mangla of the Hans Foundation, a charitable society, were the chief guests on the occasion. Mata Mangla said the foundation would set up an ultra-modern hospital in Himachal, where free treatment would be provided to the poor. Chairman of the Kullu Dasehra Festival Committee and Transport and Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur welcomed the chief guests and presented them traditional Kullu caps, shawls and Dasehra souvenirs.
