Shimla: Long queues of patients were witnessed at OPDs of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital here, which were opened on Monday. None of the patients, who are symptomatic in the district, has tested positive and over 90 per cent persons with travel history are asymptomatic, said doctors. This is a cause for concern as coronavirus remains elusive in many cases. They cautioned underscoring the need for rapid testing of all asymptomatic persons. So far, the state has tested over 2,900 persons of the 7,800 who are under observation, doctors said. The Health Department announced the e-sanjivni health service for patients to minimise rush at the OPDs in all medical colleges. TNS
Pharma firm vice-chief booked
Solan: Vice-president of Theon Pharmaceuticals, Sainimajra, Nalagarh, was booked for entering the Baddi industrial area from Mohali in Punjab in his vehicle in violation of the curfew restrictions on Monday. SP Baddi, Rohit Malpani, said he along with his driver Raman Preet and Tej Ram Sharma entered the area from Dhabota inter-state barrier and went to his industrial unit. A case under Sections 188, 269 and 270 of the IPC has been registered against them for this violation. TNS
Containment orders eased in Chamba
Chamba: District Magistrate Vivek Bhatia on Monday ordered relaxation of containment orders in Barour, Jadera, Kaila, Paluhin, Parotha, Rajindu, Sillaghrat, Kiri, Sarahan, Guwad and Athluin panchayats of Chamba district. However, the orders would continue to remain in force in Palyur and Saho panchayats till further orders. The DM further stated that the curfew would now be regulated as per previous orders issued on March 25 and its subsequent amendments from time to time.
Contributions towards Covid-19 fund
Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented bank drafts for Rs 19.94 lakh and Rs 1.98 lakh by Forest Minister Govind Thakur towards the HP SDMA Covid-19 State Disaster Response Fund and PM CARES on behalf of people of Manali on Monday. The Chief Minister was also presented cheques for Rs 1.30 lakh by the administrator, Thupten Dorjidak Awwam Chogar Institute, Sarswati Garden Estate, Kasumpti, Shimla. TNS
Alkem donates PPEs, masks to Health Dept
Solan: Alkem Lab, Baddi, on Monday, donated 300 PPE kits, 500 N-95 masks and four infrared thermometers to the district health authorities to help the health staff deal with the pandemic. Senior human resource manager Ajay Bhatia said Alkem Lab donated these gadgets as part of their corporate social responsibility to help health and police staff who were at the forefront tackling the pandemic. Industrial worker crushed to death
Solan: An industrial labourer, Rajveer Singh, was crushed under a machine while working in the packaging unit of Jasmer Packers, Kala Amb, around noon on Monday. Sirmaur SP Ajay Krishan Sharma said Rajveer, who hails from Kotla village in Yamunanagar district, was employed at Jasmer Packers for the last two years. As per a complaint by Rajveer's father Kehar Singh, the machine he was working on started malfunctioning and injured him; Rajveer later died. The SP said the police were investigating and verifying various aspects like lack of maintenance. A case of negligent conduct causing death has been registered. TNS
